Vidovići 5 - Guestbook

It was great staying at your place in Vidovici. That was our first time in Croatia and we were enchanted by the country, the people, the hospitality and the food. Cres is a beautiful island, and your house is so nice and comfortable we enjoyed it all, not to forget the impressive and beautiful views. We will be back for sure next summer and thanks for that fantastic olive oil. Best to you all.

We spent one week at the end of August with our two daughters at Ingrids Vidovici No. 5 apartment. Everything, starting from the interior, the site, the view, the hospitality and warmth of Ingrid and her sister Natascha were extraordinary, you have to experience it yourself. We‘ll do that in the near future for sure. It’s a place to keep in your heart and come back again the rest of your life.

Last year we called sisters-homes one day prior to the intended start of our vacation. Their house in Sv. Jakov was available, Vidovici was fully booked. Although we expected a beautiful house due to their perfectly designed website, we entered an even more beautiful place: the terrace in the garden where we had breakfast, the outdoor showers (cold and warm water!), the large terrace on the first floor - perfect to sit and read and fall asleep from time to time or watch the sea - the interior of the house giving pleasure to the eyes wherever you look. There is a small idyllic path to the sea (5 minutes walk), so every day we went swimming many times, beginning before breakfast. In the evenings we attended some unforgettable concerts at Osor festival and had some really nice dinners at Osor or Mali Lošinj or cooked ourselves. Due to circumstances we could only stay 10 days.

This year we booked well in advance and wanted to try Vidovici and stay a bit longer (3 weeks). The first two weeks we had house nr 5: from three floors there are smashing views to the sea, the sunset, and the surrounding woods. A really remarkable architecture how Ingrid restored these old houses with exceptional feeling for materials and proportions. Also the magazine (small places), where we stayed for the last week, had this same positive atmosphere like the other two houses we already knew, and we enjoyed sleeping on the foutons. The sea is a bit further than from the Sv. Jakov house in Vidovici (25 min walk through the wood or 5 min by car). We also made a longer walk to Lubenice starting directly from the house, and there are many more walking paths in the wonderful landscape and half shade (for next time). Compared with other beaches on the island, we found those around Martinščica very beautiful so that we always returned there.

We felt privileged to be welcome staying in these special houses that we originally found via the Urlaubsarchitektur website and are now enjoying the delicious olive oil from Ingrid and Dan's olive trees. The quality of this oil not so surprisingly matches the quality of the houses.

Two words describe the ambiance of Vidovici 5: simple & relaxed. The design of the house is simple. No unnecessary clutter, and with each item chosen well, the interiors are elegant, airy and easy to use. The days are sunny and long, so the terraces and outdoor communal table allow you to relax and enjoy the bit slower pace in Vidovici. A typical day was to sleep late, explore the island in the afternoon with the advice of the owner, and finish with a long alfresco dinner in the evening, enjoying local wine and the view over the Adriatic. Ending with coffee just after sunset. Simple. Relaxed.

My family spent the most wonderful week in this hilltop oasis. The sisters have spared no attention to detail when it comes to aesthetics, craftsmanship and comfort. Personal and special touches are everywhere — and the villa has everything you could need and want. This lovingly restored property blends the best of old with new, and in the most sophisticated yet understated way. The raw beauty of the natural environment and sweeping views of the Adriatic Sea only enhance the experience. The Sisters could not have been more genuinely gracious and generous hosts. We will surely return to this pristine and magical hideaway some day soon. We loved every moment.

Dear Ingrid,

it has been a very special stay for all of us.

Thank you for your message, I also copy Benedetta to whom you also addressed your kind words.

We were happy there, both for the beauty of the location and for your husband's and your personal approach and hospitality.

Of course we have already sent images and phoned to many friends. While you sent the message I was speaking with a friend, telling her about the peculiarity of Vidovice, a small mystic Mediterranean location of pure emotion. I very seldom have that physical sensation. It happens with architecture and with remote lost locations only. Please !!! Keep the wildness of the walls in the garden as they are. Do not refurbish them. Have you been to Micene, at the Clitemnestra tomb or in Ginostra at Stromboli? There is a magic in that place in Vidovice that also transcends your very good taste and the people that may live there. Too mystic and sweet, deep and dark, peaceful and heavy. A kind of thickness in the air that in the meantime is exotic and simple, far and at hand, ancient and present. There is a soul which is alive in those stones.

I am already thinking to come back next year. The best for Vidovice would be to gather some more friends.

And also Sveti Jakov. I wouldn't know what to choose.

Many many compliments. Let's try to keep in touch.

I haven't yet tasted the oil. The honey is very very very good.

Last but not the least: Stanić's sound is a great discovery for me.

That is really good music, high level, special sensibility to the contemporary/classic jazz sound (.,.. I am not a connoisseur..this is just my emotional side ).

Let's keep in touch.

I will keep you posted about our news, for sure !

Many compliments for the world you have built.

All the best to you and to Gordan.

Ciao, Maria.

We had a wonderful time at the Vidovici 5. It is the most peaceful and beautifully renovated and furnished apartment you can imagine. Every detail is on its place! All compliments to the two sisters! Also thank you for all the great tips about the islands. We definitely want to come back!

Vidovici 5 is a very charming place and the two sisters have done a marvelous job with the interior design. The highlight is clearly the terrace with a spectacular view across the sea to Istria. After almost one week with our patchwork family of 5 persons, we had a hard time leaving this quiet and peaceful place and our lovely and inspiring host Ingrid with her cute dog Allegra. We also very much enjoyed our last evening with Ingrid and her husband Gordan. Many thanks again! We are looking forward to our next visit. Translate

Desperately in need of some serious r&r by chance I found the beautiful property off the beaten tracks on Cres island. I spent relaxing days lazing on the terrace, having late breakfast followed by some hours spent on the beach. The houses are furbished and decorated with great style. Ingrid and her family did everything to make me feel very welcome. I really appreciated the view, the quietness and the relaxed atmosphere. Will surely by back. Translate
